The
Best Frozen Yogurt
Frozen yogurt as you may most likely know, is a frozen dessert made from
or containing yogurt or dairy analogues. Frozen yogurt is served as a
lot-fat or fat-free alternative to ice cream. It may or may not contain
active cultures. What we are looking for here are those live cultures.
With the addition of the live cultures lactose-sensitive people may eat
the yogurt in place of ice cream, as the live cultures can help digest
the lactose. For those who do not have a problem in this area, it's a
better product for all. Frozen yogurt has been around since around 1970
but did not become main stream until the 1980's.
Many manufacturers make it very sweet or with sweetened fruit mixed in
as the pure yogurt had a tart sort of sour taste. Well, for me I prefer
the tart taste but usually the only FY available is usually sweetened
and flavored as is ice cream. Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, most any
flavor profile is available. Recently I came upon an article in the New
York Times. There is a new player on the street and his name is RED MANGO.
They only have a few stores, about 14 in the New York City area, California,
and two in the State of Washington. Check out their company at www.RedMangoUSA.com.
They are only one of two frozen yogurt players who are certified by the
National Yogurt Association for Live and Active Yogurt. Now for the best
part, I've been to the Washington State Alderwood Mall location and I
am sold on this product. The stores are clean, the staff is polite and
interested, and the product is the best I have ever tasted. They offer
the plain, my favorite, and the Green Tea which really tastes like the
green tea. They offer many different toppings... always fresh fruit. On
one visit, my friend asked for banana and they peeled and prepared a ripe
banana right there. Now that's fresh. So if you are interested in good
eats and good health for your family, give it a try.
